Diversity in the Classroom

Diversity in the Classroom involves two of the four goal areas for diversity:

  • Enhancing the institutional curriculum, and scholarship
  • Increasing numbers of students from underrepresented groups

Both increasing the number of diverse students for interactions in class, and supporting a diverse curriculum and scholarship greatly impact student experiences. They increase exposure to diverse ideas and foster a greater understanding and appreciation for cultures and experiences different from their own.

Enhancing Institutional Curriculum and Scholarship

The Center for Academic Excellence puts on a Diversity Series every year to help facilitate the process of integrating diversity into faculty curriculum.

Increasing number of students from underrepresented groups

A minority recruitment director is now part of the PSU Admissions office to help reach out to a diverse population of students.
